관계형용사 - 명사를 꾸며줌.

cf) 관계대명사: 관계사절 내에서 명사의 역할을 하는 관계사 

which+명사, what+명사: 어떤/모든, whose+명사 세 가지

whose는 소유격으로서 명사를 꾸며주기 때문에 형용사.

선행사의 정체를 구체적으로 밝히고 싶을 때 which+명사를 사용함.

ex) I want to take a hike to Sorak, which mountain is known to be very beautiful especially in fall.

I gave him what money I had: 모든 돈을 준 것.

관계부사

Seoul is the capital city of Korea. + He was born in Seoul.

Seoul in which he was born is the capital of Korea.

in which를 관계부사 where로 변환 가능

The year 2002 is unforgettable. + The world cup soccer games were held in 2002.

The year 2002 in which the world cup soccer games were held is unforgettable.

The year 2002 when the world cup soccer games were held is unforgettable.

장소명사+in/on/at which S+V - where로 변환 가능

시간명사+in/at/on which S+V - when으로 변환 가능

reason for which S+V - why로 변환 가능

way in which S+V- that으로 변환 가능. how쓰지 않고 that만 씀.

The way that he has chosen is the most dangerous of all. 이 때 that은 관계대명사이기 때문에 which로 변환 가능. (뒷구조가 미완성구조이기때문에 관계대명사)

The way that he treats me is rather embarrassing. 이 때 that은 관계부사이기때문에 which로 바꿀 수 없음.

이 중 whichever, whosever, whatever은 명사를 뒤에 달 수 있음

역할: 1. 양보의 부사절 유도, 2. 선행사를 포함하는 관계대명사

Whoever wants it = anyone who wants it

whatever is worth doing = anything that is worth doing
