등위접속사 and, or, nor, but. 이 접속사들은 단어와 구, 절까지 모두 연결한다.

ex) To praise and to be praised is a key to cheering up the members.

I want you to go there and to help him.

He sat between you and me. 전치사 짝 병렬

He dances beautifully and elegantly. 

He is handsome and in good physical condition. 두 개는 각각 형용사와 전치사이지만 공통인 he is 로 묶어 뒷 부분을 병렬시킨 구조.

등위접속사는 수학의 인수분해 공식이 적용될 수 있다.

Xa+Xb=X(a+b)

aY+bY=(a+b)Y

XaY+XbY=X(a+b)Y

(He told me his father would die) and (he was very sorry.)

He told me (his father would die) and (that he was very sorry.)

and

bred and butter처럼 and로 묶이는 것이 단일 개념이라면 단수 취급 한다.

명령문+and S will V: ~해라 그러면 ~ 할 것이다.
