-형용사

1) 역할 :

-보어 S+V+C : be + 형 , become + 형 , prove + 형 , look + 형

S+V+O+O.C

-수식어 :

something + 형용사 뒤에서 수식

time immemorial 뒤에서 수식 “time을”

court martial 뒤에서 court를 수식

명 + 형용사 + @

@ : 1) 전+짝 / to vR / that s+v

He is likely to die / to win 의미완성

it is likely that s+v ~

- be likely to vR

- It is likely that + s+v

he is small , big , smart , gentle ,,, 그 자체로 의미 완성

- be sure of / to vR / that s+v

- be afraid of / that s+v ~

- be full of ~

- be able to vR = be capable of

the man invited to my party gladly accepted my invitation.

only + 명사 : only는 오직 수식어로만 사용

alive butterfly (X)

the butterfly is alive (O) 보어로만 사용

- He is conscious that we are alive. : 알고있는 C 보어역할

- the conscious young man wants to help the poor. : 의식있는,깨어있는 전치 수식역할

be apt + @ : to vR S 는 ~하는 경향이 있다.

the apt student 수식어 일때는 “자질이 있는” 뜻으로 사용

( aptitude 자질 적성)

*** worth : 명/형

명, worthy of, worthless

S be worth + 명사 /ing S는 ~할 가치가 있다.

대부분 전+짝/to vR/that 절이 오지만 worth 는 @로 명사 혹은 ing 형태가 나온다.

- the product is worth the price.

- the book is worth reading twice.

여기서 reading 자리에 vt 타동사/타동사구만을 사용한다.

자동사는 사용할수 없는 the book이 이 문장의 의미상의 목적어 역할을 하고 있다.

the place is worth going once (X) 틀린문장이다.

going 대신에 going to / visiting을 써야 한다.

- his lecture is worth listening to.

worthwhile <->worthless

he is impossible to persuade her.

To persuade her is impossible.

For him to peruade her is impossible.

It's impossible for him to persuade her.

she is impossible for him to persuade.

4. 듣고난 소감 :

vt + O

S+ be worth + vt

worth + @ 구조에서 명사나 ing를 사용하고 ing를 받을땐 그동사가 반드시 타동사가 와야만 한다.

후치수식할 때 혹은 전치 수식할 때 해석법이 달라짐을 유의해야겠다.

5. 구체적인 후기 :

이유없이 만들어지는 문장은 없다. 모든 정확한 구조와 의미를 가지고 있다는 것을 점점 알아 가고 있는 느낌이다.
