[1] 관계부사

특별한 전치사의 경우(in, at, on을 제외한 대부분의 전치사)에는 명확한 의미전달을 위하여 관계부사보다는 전치사+관계대명사의 형태로 쓴다.

ex) The roof, where he fell, was very slanted.

    → The roof, from which he fell, was very slanted.

*관계부사 how는 the way와 함께 쓰지 않는다. 선행사가 the way인 경우에는 how 대신 that을 사용한다. 또는 'in which'를 사용한다.

*회화체에서는 선행사가 장소명사, 시간명사, reason, way일 때에 관계부사 where, when, why 대신 that을 사용하기도 한다.

*관계부사는 선행사와의 관계가 명백한 제한적 용법에서 생략할 수 있다.

[2]선행사의 생략

선행사가 생략된 경우 관계부사는 명사절 역할을 한다.

This is where he was born and bred.

I remember when he appeared in this remote village.

This is why I gave up studying.

[3] 복합관계대명사

(1) 명사절을 유도할 때

1) whoever + V = anyone who + V

Whoever wants it will have it.

= Anyone who wants it will have it.

2) whomever + S + V = anyone whom + S + V

Marry whomever you like.

= Marry anyone whom you like.

3) whatever + (S) + V = anything that + (S) + V

Whatever is worth doing is worth doing well.

= Anything that is worth doing is worth doing well.

4) whichever + (S) + V = anything that + (S) + V

Choose whichever you want.

= Choose anything that you want.

5) whosesever + .. + (S) + V

Whosever house you buy in this community will be very large.

= Anyone's house that you buy in this community will be very large.

(2) 양보의 부사절을 유도할 때

wh-ever + (S) + V = no matter wh- + (S) + V

Whatever the learned may say about a book, it is of no use to you unless it attracts you.

= No matter what the learned may say about a book, it is of no use to you unless it attracts you.

[4] 복합관계부사

1) 명사절을 유도할 때

wh-ever + S + V = any + 명사 + wh- + S + V

I'll take you to wherever you want to be.

= I will take you to anyplace where you want to be.

2) 양보의 부사절을 유도할 때

wh-ever + S + V = no matter wh- + S + V

Whenever he comes to may house, he shall be welcome.

= No matter when he comes to may house, he shall be welcome. 

[5] 복합관계형용사

whatever / whichever / whosever + 명사 + (S) + V

1) 명사절을 유도할 때

wh-ever + 명사 + (S) + V = any + 명사 + that + S + V

Whatever orders he gives should be observed.

= Any orders that he gives should be observed.

2) 양보의 부사절을 유도할 때

wh-ever + 명사 + (S) + V = no matter wh- + 명사 + (S) + V

Whosever son loves me, I will not be married.

= No matter whose son loves me, I will not be married.

5. 구체적인 후기 : 드디어 기초영문법을 완강했습니다. 빨리 진도를 나가는 것 보다는 하루에 부담스럽지 않을정도의 분량을 듣는것을 목표로 하다보니 생각보다는 오래 걸렸습니다. 앞으로는 기초영작과 문법의신을 병행하여 들을 생각입니다.
