의문문 Questions.

1. 단순 응답 형 의문문: 답이 Yes, No.

   Yes = exactly, That’s right, definitely, of course, sure, certainly, affirmative.

   No = not really, never, in no way, no way, of course not, negative.

a.   Be    + S ~?              Be (is, am, are, was, were)

b.   조동사 + S ~?             조동사Can, may, must will could, might, must(had to), would.

c.   Do, does, did + S + VR ~?  일반 동사

1)   Be    + S ~?   Be (is, am, are, was, were)

He is happy. -> 긍정 의문문: Is he happy?

                부정 의문문: Is he not happy? = Isn’t he happy? (부정 축약형)

                                  Is not he happy? (X)

      Be 동사의 부정 축약형

      am, are -> aren’t

      is -> isn’t.  was -> wasn’t.  were -> weren’t.

      One of your habits is drinking too much.

->Is one of your habits drinking too much? Or Is too much one of your habits drinking?

He was married. -> Was he married?

The car is in the garage. -> Is the car in the garage?

There were 3 soldiers in the foxhole. -> Were there 3 soldiers in the foxhole?

 : There be S 형식으로 여기 there은 형식상의 주어로 의문문에서는 주어로 보고 be 동사를 앞으로 보내어 의문문을 만들어준다.

2)   조동사 + S ~?  조동사Can, may, must will, shall, could, might, must(had to), would, should.

Can, could + S~?           부정    Can I not / could I not ~ -> can’t you/ couldn’t you

May, might + S~?                   May I not

Must, must (=had to) + S~?          Must I not     -> mustn’t you

Will, would + S~?                   Will I not / would I not~ -> won’t(웡트) I / wouldn’t you

Shall, should + S~?                  Shall I not / should I not~ -> shouldn’t you

Have, has, had + S ~?     **완료 시제 조동사

have, has, had +pp (~했다): 시제 조동사로 “가지다” 라는 뜻이 없다.

I have been there. -> Have you ever been there? 여기서 ever는 강조.

He has been here for 2 weeks. -> Has he been here for 2 weeks?

They have made up a new plan. -> Have they made up a new plan?

The branch can hold your weight. -> Can the branch hold your weight?

3)   Do(현재), Does(3인칭단수 현재), Did(과거) + S + VR ~?  일반 동사

부정 축약: Do – Don’t, Does – Doesn’t. Did – Didn’t

He gets up late. -> Does he get up late?

They arrived yesterday. -> Do they arrive yesterday?

He has many friends. -> Does he have many friends?

He and his sister stay in Seoul. -> Do he and his sister stay in Seoul?

      Sister- 여자 형제, brother -> 남자 형제로 해석한다.

4)   의문사의 부정문

Isn’t he happy?  Or.  Is he not happy?

Can’t you see this?  Or.  Can you not see this?

Don’t you accept the offer? Or.  Do you not accept the offer?

축약하지 않을 경우 Be, 조동사, Do, Does, Did + S+ not 로 사용해야 함.
