이 문장은 TS에서 가상적인 상황을 가정하고 있습니다.( 과거시점에서의 가정이 아닌데요) 따라서 would have been better대신에 would be better로 써야 하지 않을까요?

the trip 자체가 끝난 일이라고 보는 것입니다. 집에 있었다면 더 나았을 것이다 라는 의미가 함축합니다.
