Need not : ~할 필요가 없는

I don’t need to go there. 본동사

I need not go there 조동사

He doesn’t need to see her. 본  he need not see her 조   Does he need to see her?  Need he see her?

Dare not : 감히 ~할 수 없는

He doesn’t dare to fight  -> He dare not fight

Does he dare to look at my face? -> Dare he look at my face?

May well:  ~하는것이 당연한, ~일지도 모르는(=may)

You may well say so. His bravery may well be praised and appreciated.

May as well: ~하는것이 더 나은 / may as well not: ~하지않는것이 더 나은

You may as well work out . You may as well not eat junkfood.

Had better/ had sooner/ had best     Had better not / had sooner not/

You had better go see a doctor. You had sooner wear that shirts. You had best work hard.

You had better not see such a man.

Ought to ~해야한다 should

조동사 + have pp

May have pp/ may not have pp  you may have liked her.

Should have pp/ should not have pp  you should haave done your h.w/ you should not have broken the rules

Must have pp/ cannnot have pp   He cannot have forgotten my birthday . He must have remembered our anniversary.

Ought to have pp/ ought not to have pp   You ought to not eaten ice cram last night

Need not have pp 할필요없었는데  you need not have gone there.
