-able, -ible : 수동 + 가능notable, desirable

He is edible 그는 먹을 수 있다는 뜻이 아니라그는 먹혀질 수 있다임

He is visible : 그는 보여 질 수 없다. 즉 우리는 그를 볼 수 없다.

He is belivable : 그는 믿어질 수 없다. 즉, 우리는 그를 믿을 수 없다

명사+y : 해당 명사의 성격이 강한

windy, cloudy, sunny, moony, starry, foggy, rainny, snowy

명사+ful : 명사의 성격으로 가득찬

wonderful, beautiful, careful, merciful, joyful, helpful, hopeful

명사+ous : spacious, conscious, courageous, gorgeous, momentous

dangerous, notorious

-al : fatal, lethal, national, logical

-less : careless, faultless, wonderless, worthless, priceless

명사 + -some

handsome, wholesome, awesome, troublesome, bothersome, lonesome

명사+ly = 형용사

manly, friendly, lovely, motherly, fatherly, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, annually, yearly, timely

-ive : atentive, active, passive, compulsive, repulsive, compresensive

-ic : romantic, optimistic, economic, chronic, public, static

-en : golden, silken, wooden, earthen(흙으로 만든), woolen, leaden(납으로 만든)

형용사(adjective)의 역할

1. 명사 수식 : 전치수식, 후치수식

두 단어 이상의 형용사구가 명사를 앞에서 꾸밀 수도 있다.

He is a three - year - old boy

She is a stay-at-home wife
