<원급비교를 이용한 관용표현>

1) no A so(as) B as C : C 만큼 B한 A는 없다 , 즉 C가 가장 ~하다.

- In no other places can I feel so safe as in your arms.

- I cannot think of any other thing so important as our trust.

2) as 형부 as any +명사 : 누구 무엇 못지않게 ~하다.

any ( 무제한 all )

- He is as covetous as any man in my company.

3) as 형부 as ever + 동사 : ~하는 누구,무엇 못지않게 ~하다.

: 이 구조는 뒤의 as 가 유사관계대명사 주격으로 사용되는 경우 ‘ as 형용사 관사 명사 as ever 동사 ’ 로 오지만 단독적으로 뒤에 절을 받을 수도 있고 ‘예전만큼’ 이라는 의미로 사용될 수도 있다. 'as 부사 as ever' 의 경우 뒤에 새로운 절을 받아서 사용할 수 있다.

-He was as smart as a young man as ever studied in my class.

- I love you as truly as ever a man loved a woman.

- He is as young and pretty as ever.

그녀는 여전히 젊고 아름답다.

- He is as good a man as ever trod shoe leather.

4) as 형부 as possible = as 형부 as one can = as 형부 as can be

- Please write me back as soon as possible.

5) as good as : ~와 다름없는 ,다름없이 ,~만큼 훌륭한.

- He is as good as dead.

- He as good as called me a coward.

- She is as good as her word.

6) not so much A as B : A 라기보다는 B , 구어체에서는 as 대식 but도 가능

= not A so much as B

= B rather than A

= more B than A (A,B 에 형용사나 부사가 들어가도 음절과 관계없이 사용한다.)

= less A than B

- Jenny is more stingy than thrifty.

- He learns from his opponents rather than from his fervent supporters.

* not so much as + V "~조차 못하다 않다.“

- He cannot so much as write his own name.

7) without so much as 명사 / ing : ~조차 없이 / ~조차 하지 않고서

- He went back home without so much as saying goodbye.

8) so 형부 as to vR : ~할 정도로 충분히 ~하다.

= 형부 enough to vR

- He was so kind as to let me in and give his bed for the night.

= He was kind enough to let me in and give his bed for the night.

9) as soon as : ~하자마자.

10) as long as = so long as : ~하는한 :조건 /~만큼 길게 긴

as far as = so far as ~하는 한 :정도 / ~만큼 멀리.

- His hair is as long as mine.

- I can walk as far as to the school.

11) 원급 비교에서 두 번째 as 이하의 생략

- He is happy but I am not happy. 행복의 절대적기준.

- He is happy but I am not as happy. 그는 행복하다 그러나 나는 그만큼 행복하지는 않다.

12) 배수가,half 와 원급 비교

- He is twice as heavy as I am.

- He is twice heavier than I

13) as 가 붙을 경우 부정관사는 형용사 뒤. : 부정관사는 원래 형용사 앞에서 명사를 수식하지만 부사 as가 오면 “ 형 + 관 + 명” 의 어순이 된다 !!!

- I want to be as nice a husband as you expect me to.( be a nice husband.)

- He finds me as honest a man as a saint.

4. 듣고난 소감 :

오늘은 원급비교에 관하여 학습하였다. 비교구문에서 병렬이 어떻게 이루어지는지 정확하게 파악하는 것이 중요한것같다.

예문을 다시한번 살펴보면서 문장을 파악해야겠다.

5. 구체적인 후기 :

이제 거의 강의의 막바지에 다달았다. 수강을 완료하고 2배속으로 다시한번 빠르게 반복할 예정이다 겸에서 gate 강좌와 기타 독해분석강좌를 통해 적용해보면서 5회독을 목표로 “문법의 신”과 함께 영어를 시작하겠다.
