refer + a to b : a를 b에 보내다, 조회시키다, 돌리다 

ex) I was referred to the secretary for more information

    He usually refers his pupils to the dictionary => 사전으로 보내다 => 조회시키다 => '사전 찾으라'는 의미

    He referred his success to gis own hard work => atrribute a to b 와 유사한 의미 

refer to + 명사 : 언급하다, 부르다, 관련되다, 조회하다, 참조하다  

ex) The speaker referred to his own peronal experience

     The American Indians referred to salt as magic white sand  

     * refer a to b : A를 B로써 칭하다, 언급하다 <=> a is refereed to as b ( 수동태 ) 

The regulations refer only to minors => 그 규칙들은 minors 에게 적용된다

ex) He regrst the follies of his youth / I regret having spent all the money 

regret to vr : ~하게되어 유감이다 

ex) I regret to say that my fiance is ill in bed 

regretaful : 유감스러워하는 / regrettable : 후회될만한 => The loss of jobs is highly regrettable 

He is regretful : 그는 후회하고 있어요 => 'he'가 후회하는 것 

He is regretaable : 그는 후회어질만한 사람이다 => 'he' 에 대한 평가 

remain + 보어 ( 명사: ~로 남다 , 형용사: ~한 상태로 남다 , to vr : ~ 할 행위가 남아있다 ) 

ex) Their motives for the murder remain a mystery 

    The natural beauty of the country remanis unchanged
